Remember Congo? It used to play constantly on cable when I was growing up. After the success of Jurassic Park, Hollywood rushed to adapt another Michael Crichton novel. It has some nice creature effects from Stan Winston, notably these violent apes that would⁣ really benefit from visiting a dentist and a dermatologist.⁣
⁣
Although ape monsters are usually portrayed sympathetically in movies, Congo has no mercy for its gorillas. They get shot with machine guns, maimed or cut in half with lasers,⁣ buried on molten lava and called ugly by a speaking regular gorilla.
