1996. The Shriekers from Tremors 2: Aftershocks.⁣

Almost a year has gone by since I began my Movie Creature Design by Year project. The first monster I made for it was the 1990’s Graboid.⁣

I saw Tremors 2 for the first time on VHS a week after renting the first one. I didn’t know it was a straight to video sequel for a long while. While the original Graboid did sort of look like something plausible, the Shriekers don’t do at all. Are they invertebrates? How come they how digitigrade bird-like legs? Who cares! They look cool and memorable. Love their little flat tail.
